How to send and edit a Client Retainer Request

Learn how to send a client retainer request and change or edit the requested retainer.

Retainers in Design Manager should be used when the funds from the Client are not yet dedicated to any particular merchandise. Retainers can be manually utilized on Proposals or when the Client is invoiced. Retainers are only tied to a Project which means a Client and Project must be created first in order to request a Retainer from a Client.

To request a Retainer from your Client, go into the Project and select the Deposits tab.

In the top right, click on the Request Retainer Email.

Enter the amount of the Retainer you are requesting and enter or edit information into the other fields. When finished, click on Send.

Design Manager will record this Retainer request with the Project information shown on the Project List page.

This retainer request will also show on the Client Portal if the portal has been enabled within the Project. With DesignPay (online payment processor), your Client can pay the retainer through the Client Portal. To learn more about the Client Portal, click here.

If you need edit or change the already requested retainer, go into the Project and select the Deposits tab.

In the top right, click on the Request Retainer Email. In the Amount to Request field change the amount to your desired value. If you want to remove the retainer request, then enter a 0. In the To: field, you can change the email address to your own (if changing it to 0) or keep your Clients email address (if requesting more Retainer) and click on Send. This will save the new amount.
