Understanding Billing Settings in Design Manager
Billing settings in Design Manager allow users to configure how clients are billed for various project components. These settings include options for billing styles and the definition of components, which are essential for managing project costs effectively.
Billing Styles
Billing styles determine how clients are charged for project components. Design Manager offers three billing styles:
Always Actual: Bills the client for the actual costs incurred, including any additional vendor charges, plus the default markup for each component type. This ensures that the client is charged based on real expenses.
Always Proposal: Bills the client for the estimated amount shown on the item, regardless of the actual costs. This style is useful for projects where fixed pricing is preferred.
Automatic: Bills the client for the higher of the estimated amount or the actual amount (with markup). This ensures that the client is charged fairly while protecting against underestimation.
Components in Billing Settings
Components refer to the item types within a project, such as merchandise, freight, and install/labor. Each component type can have its own billing style and markup settings, allowing for flexible and detailed billing configurations. This enables users to tailor billing practices to the specific needs of each project. By understanding and configuring these billing settings, users can ensure accurate and transparent billing practices, enhancing client satisfaction and project profitability.
