Often, a credit card may become compromised, closed, or simply no longer used. When that happens, you’ll want to remove it from active use in your system—both to avoid accidentally using an inactive card and to prevent it from appearing throughout various areas of Design Manager.
Because this account is tied to historical financial transactions, it cannot be deleted. However, it can be managed so it no longer appears in most areas of the system.
How to remove a credit card from active use
1. From the left-hand navigation bar, open the Accounting module and select Accounts to access your Account Glossary.
2. In the Accounts list, locate the credit card account you want to update and click the underlined Account Number to edit it.
3. Change the Account Type from Liability (Credit Card) to Liability. This will prevent the account from being selected as a payment method for vendor bills and remove it from the Credit Card Reconciliation
4. Uncheck the “Is Open” box and enter the month the credit card account was closed. Once an account is closed, no transactions can be posted to it after the closed date.
5. Click on Save to save your changes.
After completing these steps, you will no longer be able to pay bills with this credit card, and no new entries can be posted to it after the closed date.
